The Re:Join project investigates the formal and aesthetic possibilities of solid wood and plastic-based construction joints by friction welding, which can be produced without additional glues. Depending on the processing method, plastic can be made from up to 100% regenerative resources and is biodegradable. The simplest possible solid wood parts and the most complex plastic elements are combined to create formal features that allow conclusions to be drawn about the origin of materials and individual design approaches for Wooden buildings.
An experimental application in the context of the collaboration with Moroso is represented by two displays for cushions and plaids (designed specifically for the space Moroso) and a shelving project.
Re:Join is part of the seminar UNWIND, UNPLUG, DISASSEMBLE, followed by Wieki Somers and Freia Achenbach from the University of Arts and Design in Karlsruhe for Moroso.
