Array is an innovative modular system that eliminates the use of padding in the seats while maintaining the same cushioning effect. It is made of bent and painted beech plywood, a choice dictated by the need for flexibility and the desire to use existing production techniques rather than orientate towards experimental materials. By avoiding combinations of materials, Array reduces transport emissions and allows easy reintegration into the recycling chain.
Its design, in fact, creates volume through the shape rather than through the use of large amounts of material, resulting in a light, open and transparent structure. What makes Array particularly fascinating is its dynamic behaviour, which adapts to the body and offers a unique ergonomic experience.
Array is part of the UNWIND, UNPLUG, DISASSEMBLE seminar, followed by Wieki Somers and Freia Achenbach from the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design for Moroso.
