Me-time

by García Cumini, 2025

Me-Time is a silent but irresistible invitation to let go, to slow down, to be wrapped by its sculptural softness. Every curve is designed to accommodate, each volume is thought to dialogue with space, transforming it into a place where time relaxes and frenzy dissolves. This sofa is not a piece of furniture. It’s a gesture, a suspended moment, an island where the rhythm of life becomes more relaxed and the house becomes a refuge. It’s the exact point where form meets the pleasure of staying.

The sofa evokes a surprising game, a tactile experience and a visual refuge at the same time. Me-Time is an island of comfort, the result of the multidisciplinary footprint of the designers, able to give life to a furniture protagonist of a domestic landscape nourished by generous proportions. The fabric is not only a covering: it’s an invitation that intrigues, the call to enter into a world of memory that merges memory and tenderness.

“One of the distinctive features of this sofa is its subtle deformation of form, a guiding principle of its design, which gives it identity. The initial idea was to invoke a familiar archetype rooted in collective memory and then project it into a contemporary dimension. We achieved this by modifying its form to suggest an object that was created to a design but subsequently began to outgrow its boundaries, acquiring a relaxed softness and a slightly overflowing silhouette while remaining balanced and contained. This feeling of fluidity is seen clearly in the details: the armrests that seem to lie naturally on the seat, the lightly modelled surfaces, and the undulations on both the upper and frontal parts of the seat itself.”

The result is a visual and tactile invitation to comfort, as if a soft fabric had been allowed to fall on a structure, adapting to it in a spontaneous way. This effect is particularly evident in the chaise longue, where the cushion intentionally overlaps the structure, evoking the image of a cake or soufflé that expands beyond its mold.

García Cumini

García Cumini was born as a fusion of two cultures, the Italian one by Cinzia Cumini and the Spanish one by Vicente García Jiménez, in which creativity, beauty and joy of life are fundamental values. Two complementary personalities, in work as in life, united by the same design philosophy, based on the concept of Slow Design. A multidisciplinary approach attentive to the changes taking place in society and, at the same time, open to technological innovations and the evolution of production processes. The result is forms and objects destined to last, to preserve unaltered their balance between soul and function, art and technology, intuition and matter.

On the occasion of the XXII Compasso d’Oro, García Cumini was awarded with the Honorable Mention.
